Violet Cleansing Cream

Violets from the garden to make this cleansing cream healthy. Both healing and moisturizing, natural and easy to make!

Equipment

  • Heat proof glass container x 2
  • Measuring spoons
  • Strainer
  • Whisk or hand mixer
  • Container or jar

Materials

  • 1 tbsp. Beeswax
  • 3 tbsp. Almond oil
  • 1 tbsp. Witch hazel
  • 1 tbsp. Lemon juice
  • 1/8 tsp. Borax
  • 6 drops Lemon essential oil
  • 1/2 cup dry, wilted violets

Instructions

  • PHASE 1
    1. In a heat proof glass, infuse 1/2 cup of the dry, wilted violet flowers in 3 tbsp. of Almond oil. Bring to low heat for 5 hours. Strain.
  • 2. Prepare a double boiler or bain marie and melt the beeswax on low heat. Do not heat beeswax over 180 degrees Fahrenheit or it will discolor.
  • 3. Add the violet infused almond oil.
  • 4. Beat with a whisk or a hand mixer until creamy and has a smooth consistency.
  • PHASE 2
  • 1. In a separate heat proof container, gently warm witch hazel and lemon juice.
  • 2. Stir in borax until fully dissolved.
  • PHASE 3
  • 1. When both temperatures are the same, at 118 degrees Fahrenheit, add Phase 2 to Phase 1.
  • 2. Steadily beat with a whisk or a hand mixer until creamy consistency is reached.
  • 3. When cooled, add lemon essential oil.
  • 4.Spoon into clean jars.
  • 5. Label and date.
  • 6. Place in a cool, dry place or in the refrigerator.
