Why wild foods?
It has been inculcated in us that weeds are bad, that they are useless and they need to be eradicated. Nowadays, more and more people have discovered the hidden benefits of weeds, both to be used for food and medicine.
There is a beginning concern about the nutritional value of commercially grown fruits and vegetables and its prices, especially organic produce. Now, there are groups that support wildcrafting, foraging and growing their own food. There have been several books that talk about wild foods but very limited research.
There may be some nutritional variations with every fruit and vegetable, as it depends on climate, soil conditions and time of harvest. We will compare our data according to the Recommended Daily Allowance RDA)https://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/what-are-recommended-dietary-allowances-rdas-and-dietary-reference-intakes-dris, established by the National Academy of Sciences Food and Nutrition Board, that represents the minimum requirement needed for nutrients in a normal, healthy individual.
